FOREWORD

The East Asian Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives, as the 10^th regional branch of ICA was formally inaugurated in Beijing from July 7-10, 1993. According to 3^rd article of the resolutions of the East Asian Regional Branch of ICA,“East Asian Archives”shall be published annually and the first issue shall be printed and distributed by China.

The editor sincerely hopes that the printing and distribution of the journal will further promote the cooperation and professional exchanges among archivists of the East Asian nations and territories and further develop the archives endeavour of the region. It is hoped that archivists of the East Asian region show great support to and concern for the journal and under our joint efforts, the journal will be printed and published better.
